Cervecera Grupo Damm

SOLUTION APPLIED TO THE CUSTOMER

Development of an autonomous support system for strategic decision making that achieves an improvement in economic and energy efficiency in the brewing industry.

Among the daily operations of Damm Group is the roasting of barley malt. To this end, Estrella Levante, as part of the Damm Group, has a series of combined cycle plants whose objective is twofold: on the one hand, to generate (and sell) electricity and steam, and on the other, to generate heat for the roasting process.

However, these combined cycle plants are not always profitable to operate. Its profitability is conditioned by the price of gas and electricity, in addition to other factors.

The expert system developed uses Data Analysis and Big Data techniques to manage the company's enormous amount of data. This allows future production costs to be inferred, leading to optimal decision making and significant savings in energy and economic terms.

Ultimately, this system has the ability to communicate with Estrella Levante's technical team to tell them when these combined cycle plants should be started or stopped.
